onix-base is an OnixOS package in the onix-base repository. Its source recipe describes system utilities and safe Arch Linux repair helpers. It installs opkg, onix-configure, onix-system-fix, and supporting configuration modules under /usr/lib/onix-configure/.
Package management
Pacman remains the package manager and database. opkg is a shell helper that calls pacman and keeps system changes in full-upgrade transactions.
opkg update
opkg install firefox git
opkg remove unused-package
opkg clean
opkg update refreshes the Arch mirror list if reflector is installed, then performs a full upgrade. opkg install installs the requested packages as part of a full upgrade. It does not create a separate package database.
For an AUR package, review its PKGBUILD and dependencies first:
opkg aur package-name
The helper fetches AUR sources with Git and builds with makepkg as an unprivileged user. The git and base-devel packages are optional dependencies for this feature. AUR recipes are community-maintained and are outside the official Arch and OnixOS repository trust boundary.
System configuration
onix-configure provides diagnostics and configuration/repair modes:
onix-configure --diagnose
onix-configure --show-config
sudo onix-configure --configure
onix-configure --user
sudo onix-configure --repair
The installed manual onix-configure(8) describes supported settings and modes. Configuration covers detected hardware, installed desktop sessions, power settings, conservative memory defaults and selected repair operations. It does not install or upgrade packages.

The local PKGBUILD declares onix-base version 1.2-40, architecture x86_64, runtime dependencies on awk, bash, coreutils, fish, pciutils, procps-ng, systemd, systemd-sysvcompat and util-linux. Optional integrations include pacman repair, initramfs regeneration, XDG directories, power-profile support, mirror management and AUR builds. Check the linked source for later versions.
onix-base is selected by all six standard profiles. See package management, system configuration, and the source PKGBUILD.
