Standard install images
These six profiles are selected by the build system for the standard OnixOS image set. Their current profiledef.sh files declare x86_64 and BIOS Syslinux plus UEFI systemd-boot.
| Profile | Intended use | x86_64 package entries | Installer |
|---|---|---|---|
| Core | Minimal command-line installation | 53 | Onix CLI installer |
| KDE | KDE Plasma desktop | 59 | Calamares |
| GNOME | GNOME desktop | 91 | Calamares |
| XFCE | XFCE desktop | 94 | Calamares |
| Security | XFCE live desktop with security tools | 133 | Calamares |
| Server | Server setup with selectable service roles | 51 | Profile-specific automated installer |
Every standard profile includes archinstall as a fallback. Read the installer guide before starting an installation. The selected installer and partitioning behavior depend on the profile.
The package counts are the number of non-comment entries in each packages.x86_64 file at the audit date. They are source counts, not a promise about the number of packages in a published ISO.
Additional image projects
These projects are maintained separately from the six-profile image set. Check their project pages for current releases and supported devices.
| Project | Image or role | Source notes |
|---|---|---|
| Mobile Edition | Plasma Mobile image and root filesystem archive | The project lists x86_64, aarch64 and armv7h targets. A CPU target does not imply phone support; kernel, device tree, firmware and boot method are device-specific. |
| TV Edition | Plasma Bigscreen media image | Publishes raw disk images for x86_64 and aarch64 Raspberry Pi systems, not a standard installer ISO. |
| Kubernetes Edition | Separate Kubernetes image project | It is not part of the six active standard profile list. Check the project README and releases for current implementation and install status. |
| Retro Edition | XFCE desktop with retro gaming software | The GitLab project is archived. It is a historical profile project, separate from standard releases. |
| Floppy Edition | Small bootable floppy image | A separate BusyBox and Olang Mini project. It is not a desktop environment or an OnixOS installer. Check its source for current maintenance and output details. |
The profile group also contains Docker and Vagrant delivery projects. They are not additional install profiles.
Profile source
Profile names, package lists and image targets come from the OnixOS profiles group. The build system’s active profile list currently selects gnome, kde, xfce, server, core and security.
Repository build targets include aarch64 and armv7h, but the six standard profile manifests currently declare x86_64. See the profile reference, package/profile map and build-system architecture notes.
