Package and profile map

Compare shared package selections and profile-specific components in the standard image set.

On this page

This map is derived from the six packages.x86_64 manifests in the profile source at the 2026-11-06 review. It describes selected package names, not every dependency that pacman resolves at image build time.

Shared package set

These 43 manifest entries appear in all six standard profile lists:

archlinux-keyring, base, base-devel, onix-base, systemd, systemd-sysvcompat, curl, git, less, man-db, man-pages, nano, pciutils, rsync, usbutils, vim, wget, onix-graphics, linux, linux-firmware, amd-ucode, intel-ucode, networkmanager, wpa_supplicant, archinstall, arch-install-scripts, olang, syslinux, fish, fastfetch, screenfetch, btop, htop, parted, dosfstools, e2fsprogs, gptfdisk, btrfs-progs, ntfs-3g, smartmontools, open-vm-tools, qemu-guest-agent, and virtualbox-guest-utils.

The common linux entry is Arch’s kernel package. The separately built Onix generic, Zen and RT kernels are not selected by these standard manifests. onix-base, onix-graphics, olang and archinstall are shared project packages/tools; see the package inventory for their repository origins.

Profile-specific selections

The table groups related package names to stay readable. The profile manifests are the exact source for the full selection. Dedicated pages link each profile to its package list and describe its limitations.

Where configuration lives

  • Repository package source lists decide which package projects are built.
  • A profile’s packages.x86_64 selects binaries for that image; this does not build them.
  • pacman.conf gives the profile access to upstream and OnixOS repositories. The Security profile also configures BlackArch.
  • airootfs/ holds files copied into the live image, including service and desktop setup.
  • profiledef.sh declares image identity, boot modes and architecture.

For details, see system architecture, profiles and the profile-specific pages.
