Onix kernel variants

Onix generic, Zen and real-time kernel recipes and how standard profiles select kernels.

Documentation pagesOnix kernel variants

The onix-kernel repository list selects three Onix kernel package projects. Their local PKGBUILDs declare x86_64. They are separate packages and are not the default kernel selected by the standard profile manifests.

Package Recipe source Snapshot version Declared architecture
linux-onix-generic Onix package group; Arch Linux kernel packaging source 7.2.11.arch1-1 x86_64
linux-onix-zen Zen kernel upstream 7.2.11-1 x86_64
linux-onix-rt Arch Linux RT kernel packaging source 7.2.12-1 x86_64

The version values above are a PKGBUILD snapshot from 2026-11-06. The upstream source or build process may generate a later package version; check the repository index and linked kernel recipes for current availability.

Standard profile selection

All six standard profiles currently list Arch’s linux package. The Onix variants are not added automatically by enabling the onix-kernel repository. Check the intended package’s current dependencies, initramfs hooks, bootloader entries and target architecture before changing a system’s kernel.

The kernel build recipes split the main kernel and headers. Their package functions set module metadata and install kernel images for mkinitcpio. They should be rebuilt and validated through the maintained package workflow; the website does not claim these recipes have been built for non-x86_64 targets.

See system architecture, package/profile map and the package build reference.
