The OnixOS build system assembles package repositories and profile images from the project’s package and profile sources. The source lists decide what enters each repository; the profile manifests select packages and files for an image.
Build order
- Check out the build system, package projects and the profile you intend to build.
- Review the configured source lists and the selected architecture. Package support and profile support are checked separately.
- Build the repository packages from their PKGBUILDs.
- Sync the package outputs to the local repository used by the profile build.
- Build the profile image and review the generated artifacts and logs.
The build-system source lists under sources/ define the normal package and image inputs. Read them before adding a package or profile. The six standard profile manifests currently target x86_64; a build-system architecture target alone does not make every profile image available for that architecture.

The build system builds the distribution; it is separate from O Language. O Language is an optional related project, not a prerequisite for building or installing OnixOS.
